Le Grand Prix de Saint-Simon

Le Toulousain Michel Lescure, vainqueur à Saint-Simon en 1966

Situé à quelques kilomètres d'Aurillac, dans la vallée de la Jordanne et à proximité de la magnifique Route des Crêtes, le bourg de Saint-Simon a vu passer de nombreuses courses cyclistes comme le Circuit du Cantal, le Prix d'ouverture de l'UC Aurillac, le Prix d'ouverture du Vélo Montagnard sans oublier le Circuit de la montagne et du Puy-Mary et bien d'autres encore. En 1964, l'Union Cycliste Aurillacoise a remis sur pied le Grand Prix de Saint-Simon, une épreuve qui existait durant les années trente.

Le Grand Prix de Juillac

Jean-François Mainguenaud, vainqueur en 1972

Les cycles Royal-Fabric étaient fabriqués à Objat

Juillac, gros bourg corrézien situé au nord-ouest de Brive-la-Gaillarde a servi de cadre à l'une des très nombreuses organisations de l'Union Cycliste Briviste. L'édition 1949 et quelques autres disputées entre 1935 et 1948 ont bénéficié du soutien financier des cycles Royal-Fabric installés à Objat dès le début des années trente.

Le Grand Prix de Doyet

- Il fut un temps où les épreuves du lundi étaient souvent plus disputées et fréquentées que les autres. En effet, seuls les plus courageux, les plus motivés, remettaient le couvert après, pour certains, deux, voire trois jours de course. Aujourd'hui, ce n'est plus le cas puisque les épreuves du lundi se font rares, tout comme celles du vendredi soir et du samedi.

- C'est l'occasion de visiter l'essentiel du palmarès d'une course du lundi, le Grand Prix de Doyet. Une épreuve qui a disparu du calendrier.

- L' E.D.S.Montluçon, l'E.C.Commentry et Commentry Cycliste ont contribué à l'organisation de cette épreuve organisée pour la première fois en 1939.

Le sport cycliste en stand by ...

Face à la situation inédite dans laquelle nous sommes plongés, nous devons prendre notre mal en patience car aujourd’hui personne ne sait quand et comment la vie reprendra son cours.

Plus aucune compétition cycliste n’est prévue dans les semaines à venir en raison de la pandémie de coronavirus.

Face à cette situation sans précédent et en attendant des jours meilleurs, VELOQUERCY, vous invite à patienter en revisitant quelques uns des 13375 articles mis en ligne depuis la création de ce blog.

Durant cette période, les rubriques : Il y a 20 ans, Il y a 50 ans, Palmarès Auvergne, Palmarès Limousin et Palmarès France continueront d’être alimentées. D’ici quelques jours une nouvelle rubrique fera son apparition. Elle sera consacrée aux 190/200 courses « toutes catés » disputées en Auvergne en 1961.
